Ray was born and raised in Ottawa and was introduced to real estate by the founder of Sarazen Realty, Roger Sarazen. Ray obtained his real estate licence in the fall of 1983 and started selling a variety of real estate with Roger Sarazen Realty Ltd., until 1987.

From the years 1987-1995 he was employed by Re/max Metro City Realty Ltd. In the summer of 1995 Ray returned to work for the Sarazen family for the company known as Coldwell Banker Sarazen Realty Brokerage Ltd., where he continues to sell today.
